Cat Tracking
Mobile App

Discovery and MVP Definition

A mobile product that helps cat owners understand location, movement, and safety status through a clear, dependable daily experience.

Section 01

A safety experience for cat owners

Product Vision

Webisoft proposes a discovery-led product engagement for a cat tracking mobile application. The concept connects a mobile app to a compatible tracking device or location provider, then turns incoming location signals into a practical safety experience for cat owners.

The initial product direction focuses on the moments that matter most: seeing a cat's latest known location, reviewing recent movement, defining a safe area, receiving meaningful alerts, and sharing access with trusted caregivers.

Commercial terms and delivery estimates are intentionally excluded from this concept proposal. They will be prepared after device strategy, location accuracy, connectivity, battery expectations, privacy requirements, and launch markets are validated during discovery.

Locate

Show the latest available position with signal freshness and device status so the owner understands what the map is communicating.

Protect

Let owners define safe areas and receive useful alerts when location events indicate that attention may be required.

Understand

Present movement history and routine patterns in a calm, readable format without overstating location precision.

Coordinate

Support trusted household members or caregivers with controlled access to the same cat profile.

Section 02

Mobile experience with a secure tracking platform

Solution

The recommended product separates the customer experience from the tracking hardware integration. The mobile app owns onboarding, maps, cat profiles, safe areas, history, alerts, and household access. A secure application API manages identity, permissions, device associations, incoming location events, and notification rules.

The tracking layer remains an explicit integration boundary because the final hardware, connectivity model, and location provider have not been selected. This keeps discovery focused on the decisions that materially affect accuracy, battery life, operating cost, and geographic availability.

Section 03

Core owner journeys

Proposed MVP Scope

1

Account and cat setup

Create an owner account, add a cat profile, and capture the information needed to identify the cat and configure tracking.

2

Tracker pairing

Associate a compatible tracker or location-provider account with the cat and confirm that location updates are available.

3

Live location view

Display the latest known position, timestamp, confidence context, and device status on a mobile map.

4

Safe-area alerts

Create named safe areas and notify authorized users when qualifying location events cross configured boundaries.

5

Movement history

Review recent location history and movement patterns while clearly communicating gaps or stale signals.

6

Shared care

Invite trusted people, control their access, and keep important safety information synchronized across the household.

Product experience

04
  • Owner onboarding

Account creation, sign-in, cat profile setup, and permissions guidance.

  • Tracking experience

Map, latest known location, signal freshness, and device status presentation.

  • Safety tools

Safe-area configuration, alert preferences, and notification handling.

  • History and shared care

Recent movement history and controlled access for trusted caregivers.

Platform foundation

04
  • Secure application API

Identity, authorization, cat profiles, device associations, and location events.

  • Tracking integration

Adapter for the selected device or location provider, subject to discovery validation.

  • Notification service

Rule evaluation and push-notification delivery for supported safety events.

  • Release foundation

Deployment configuration, observability, quality checks, and handover documentation.

Section 04

Validate before committing the build

Delivery Approach

Webisoft recommends a discovery gate before MVP commitment because tracking hardware, connectivity, accuracy, battery, privacy, and launch-market choices directly shape the product and its operating model.

  1. 1

    Step 01

    Discovery

Validate target users, launch markets, device options, connectivity, accuracy expectations, privacy obligations, and business model.

  2. 2

    Step 02

    Product definition

Translate validated decisions into user journeys, acceptance criteria, product architecture, and a prioritized MVP backlog.

  3. 3

    Step 03

    Experience design

Design the mobile flows and interaction states, including normal, delayed, missing, and low-confidence location conditions.

  4. 4

    Step 04

    MVP delivery

Build, test, release, and observe the approved MVP scope using the selected tracking integration.

Section 06

What this concept does and does not commit

Scope Boundaries

Inclusions

05
  • Discovery and MVP definition
  • Mobile experience design
  • Owner, cat, tracker, map, alert, history, and sharing workflows
  • Secure backend and selected tracking integration
  • Quality assurance and release preparation

Exclusions

05
  • Tracking hardware design or manufacturing
  • Cellular, satellite, or location-provider service fees
  • Veterinary diagnosis or medical monitoring
  • Guaranteed recovery or uninterrupted location coverage
  • Commercial launch commitments before discovery approval

Assumptions

05
  • A viable tracking device or location provider will be selected
  • Provider APIs and test access will be available
  • Location precision and update frequency will vary by device and environment
  • Privacy, consent, retention, and launch-market requirements will be confirmed
  • Pricing and schedule require an approved MVP backlog

This document defines a product direction, not a committed quotation. Scope, schedule, and investment will follow the discovery decisions.

Section 07

Critical product decisions

Risks and Questions

Location reliability

Indoor conditions, terrain, network availability, and device behavior can affect freshness and precision. The interface must communicate uncertainty clearly.

Battery and update frequency

More frequent tracking may increase power use and operating cost. Discovery must establish an acceptable product tradeoff.

Hardware dependency

Device capabilities and provider APIs determine what can be promised. The integration must be validated before scope is committed.

Privacy and security

Location data is sensitive. Access control, consent, retention, account recovery, and household sharing require deliberate product rules.

Move from concept to a priced plan

Next Steps

01

Confirm product intent

Align on the target owner, primary safety problem, launch market, and desired business model.

02

Select the tracking path

Compare compatible hardware and location providers against accuracy, battery, coverage, API, and operating requirements.

03

Approve discovery

Run structured discovery and produce an approved MVP backlog, delivery plan, and commercial proposal.

Ready to define the safest path to MVP.
